PORT TOWNSEND -- The Port Townsend Symphony Orchestra is accepting applications for its 2025 Young Artist Competition through March 15.

The annual competition is open to Jefferson County residents from 4 to 22 years old who play strings, woodwinds, brass, percussion or piano.

"We are excited to host our sixth annual competition for young musicians," said Pamela Roberts, the competition coordinator. "Today's announcement is important because it informs everyone months ahead of time about the upcoming date. Young musicians usually need plenty of time to prepare their performances so getting the event date communicated to the community is vital.

"Past participation has been strong and we expect to see another successful competition in 2025."

This year's competition will be conducted on March 29 at Grace Lutheran Church in Port Townsend.

The performers are judged in a Junior Division for musicians 4-13 and a Senior Division for musicians 13-22.

Winners will receive cash awards of $50 to $500 and may be invited to perform as a featured soloist with the orchestra during its 2025-26 season.
