No working smoke alarms were found at a home in Nantucket, where a man died and a dog was rescued on Tuesday, State Fire Marshal Jon Davine's office announced.

Firefighters arrived at around 7:30 p.m. at a home at 6 Green Meadows Road, according to the Nantucket Fire Department. During a search of the home, firefighters found one person in the home, took him out of the building and then to Nantucket Cottage Hospital, Davine's office said in a statement.
