While the original Attack on Titan manga and televised anime adaptation may be long over, its creators have since reunited for Attack on Titan: The Last Attack -- a 145-minute compilation film set to be released in theaters in Japan nationwide on Nov. 8, 2024.

Serving as the definitive ending to the series, The Last Attack will feature updated visuals, 5.1ch surround sound and, key to many fans, some all-new scenes, including a new post-credits sequence, as recently revealed by arguably the anime's biggest star, Yuki Kaji. Speaking in a special highlights video released on Nov. 1, seen below, the Japanese-language voice actor for Eren Yeager hinted at the kind of content fans can expect to see as part of the grand finale.

The Last Attack's New Post-Credits Scene Revealed as "Unique to Attack on Titan"
"A new post-credits scene has been added...the three of us [myself and the voice actors for Armin and Mikasa] were able to record it," Kaji stated. "I can't say anything about it yet, but I can't believe it's finally become an anime...I'm going to scream with all my might. The atmosphere of the scene was unique to Attack on Titan." While giving relatively little away, Kaji's comment about the post-credits scene "finally becoming an anime" does seem to reveal that the sequence will adapt content already seen elsewhere in the franchise, likely from the later manga volumes, not all of which made it to screen in the initial TV series. Lastly, Kaji urged moviegoers to "stay in your seat and watch until the end," appearing to emphasize the importance of the new scene to the story and film experience as a whole.

First announced in August 2024, Attack on Titan: The Last Attack is intended to serve as director Yuichiro Hayashi's original and ideal vision for the anime. "Please don't say that you can watch the final episode anytime on streaming services," said Hayashi in his statement about the movie. "I originally drew the storyboard with the idea that it would be watched as a single movie, and having the opportunity to have everyone watch it in the best possible environment, the theater, is a dream come true for me."
Attack on Titan: The Last Attack begins its theatrical run on Nov. 8. It has yet to be confirmed if or when the film will play outside of Japan; however, it is widely expected by fans to release in North America and other regions sometime in early 2025.
