Earlier this year, London's Mayor Sadiq Khan has expressed a keen interest in bringing WrestleMania to the UK capital but there's no guarantee it will happen right now. With that said, it appears Tony Khan gifted Sadiq Khan a customized AEW World Title belt recently.
It was previously reported that WWE was discussing having a WrestleMania event take place in London. Even John Cena also believes London earned the chance to host WrestleMania and fans were hoping it would become a reality after Triple H and Sadiq Khan had a very productive meeting abut the same earlier this year.
Despite rumors suggesting that plans for a WrestleMania event in London may be in jeopardy due to the possibility of a future NFL Super Bowl at Wembley Stadium, AEW President Tony Khan, who is also the vice-chairman and director of football operations for Fulham FC, took the opportunity to meet with Mayor Sadiq Khan.
Tony Khan took to Twitter and presented the Mayor of London with a life-sized World Championship belt featuring Fulham side plates, sparking widespread fan discussion. Considering the fact that AEW has already held their All In pay-per-views at Wembley Stadium, fans weren't all that surprised about this meeting.
"Thank you all who watch @AEW! It was great to see the Mayor of London @SadiqKhan, and I was honored to stand with him to unveil the AEW World Championship belt with the special @FulhamFC side plates!"
Earlier this year, AEW announced that AEW All In 2025 will be hosted at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas but All In will return to Wembley Stadium in 2026. Regardless, it remains to be seen whether Tony Khan will work on a potential collaboration with Sadiq Khan in the future, as fans would love for that to happen.
