This integration, developed by Ant International, aims to transform Tinaba into a Super App, offering an open platform for third-party developers to create and publish Mini Programmes within the app. In essence, this development introduces a new digital ecosystem, designed to support businesses of various sizes.
Alipay+ Mini Programmes are small, third-party mobile applications that allow users to book services, purchase products, and access promotions without needing to download separate apps or manage multiple payment platforms. Tinaba users can now access these Mini Programmes through the app, both in Italy and in 26 other supported countries. Additionally, users will find new Mini Programmes at physical locations, such as in-store QR codes.
For merchants and developers, this integration provides new opportunities to reach a growing user base. The first available Mini Programme on Tinaba is Tiqets, an online platform for booking tickets to museums and attractions worldwide. Users will be able to purchase tickets to over 4,000 venues within the Tinaba app. This addition marks the beginning of a broader rollout, with more Mini Programmes expected in the future.
The collaboration between Tinaba, Banca Profilo, and Ant Group began in 2016 and was extended to include Alipay+ in 2023. This partnership has enabled Tinaba users to make mobile payments at Alipay+ merchants worldwide, and the cross-border payment functionality now covers 27 countries, including Italy, providing a seamless travel experience for users.
Tinaba's move mirrors similar integrations in Asia, where Alipay+ has been adopted by wallet providers such as AlipayHK, Dana, and GCash. Officials from Alipay+ highlighted that the evolving partnership with Tinaba allows Italian users to enjoy an enhanced service both domestically and abroad and emphasised the potential for further innovation in Europe's digital payment landscape.
In turn, Tinaba representatives commented that the integration of Alipay+ Mini Programmes will offer users an expanded range of services, including secure and fast transactions in over 27 countries, as well as exclusive discounts and competitive exchange rates. They noted that this development aims to simplify expense management for international travellers.
