Santo Domingo.- On Thursday afternoon, tensions flared at the Haina Vacation Reception Center during a reported riot involving Haitian nationals awaiting repatriation. The unrest allegedly started when one individual sought medical attention, though this claim was later denied by the director of Immigration. Regardless, the situation prompted a significant response from intelligence agencies inside the facility.
Security forces, including the National Police, Ciudad Tranquila, and members of the Army and Navy, were dispatched to reinforce the center. Ambulances were also brought in as a precautionary measure, according to the director.
The incident caused concern among the relatives of those awaiting repatriation and led to adjustments in the usual schedule, with vehicles transporting undocumented immigrants departing later in the day to ensure safety.
