Celebrate 50 Years Of Floyd At The Planetarium

It's been 50 years since the world-renowned rock band Pink Floyd released their iconic and influential album, 'Dark Side Of The Moon.'

The Versant Power Astronomy Center and Jordan Planetarium in Orono is celebrating Floyd's astronomically successful work with an out-of-this-world multi-media experience.

The show is called 'Dark Side of the Moon: 50 Years in a Heartbeat' and it combines lights, and incredible images all set to the 42 minutes of music the album contains.

According to the Dark Side of the Moon: 50 Years In A Heartbeat Event Page, the concept of the show not only has the blessing of the band, but some input from their creative team, as well.

"NSC Creative have led the visual production efforts, working closely with Pink Floyd's long time creative collaborator Aubrey Powell from Hipgnosis.

Each song has a different theme; some futuristically looking forward and some a retro acknowledgment to Pink Floyd's visual history, all relating to a time and space experience, embracing up to the minute technology that only a Planetarium can offer. A truly immersive and all-encompassing surround sound and visual treat that will transcend reality and take you way beyond the realms of 2D experience."

The show will take place Saturday, November 2nd at 7:30 PM, inside the Jordan Planetarium, at 167 Rangeley Road in Orono. The price of admission to the show is $9. You can call the box office for more information at 207.581.1341.

There is a warning to folks who have sensory issues to be aware that there will be flashing lights and fast-moving images that could trigger certain neurological disorders.
