Can Bucs Offense Repeat History-Making Win vs. Lions?

In the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' Week 1 victory over the Commanders, the team scored on seven of its eight offensive drives en route to putting up 37 points on the day.

Quarterback Baker Mayfield led the charge by getting everyone on offense involved, throwing for four touchdowns, and earned himself FedEx Air Player of the Week. Mayfield was just one of two players in week 1 to account for four touchdowns. His passer rating of 146.4 is good for the best mark by a quarterback in week 1.

Offensive Coordinator Liam Coen showcased a new play-calling style that included balance rushing and passing the ball. Rookie running back Bucky Irving was a big part of that. In fact, Irving's 62 rushing yards were more than any other rookie running backs combined. The team's duo in the backfield combined for 182 scrimmage yards ,which was second among RB duos. Rachaad White had a lot to do with that, bringing in 75 receiving yards.

Tampa Bay was the only team in Week 1 to have four players record more than 60 scrimmage yards. White led the charge with 106, but Chris Godwin, Irving, and Mike Evans also had 60+ yard outputs.

Perhaps the best accomplishment is total points. The Buccaneers were 1-of-2 teams to score 35+ points. The other was the New Orleans Saints.

A very solid debut from the play-calling of Coen, and it will be interesting to see how efficient they are going on the road to face the Detroit Lions who eliminated the Bucs a season ago.
