Ohio State football appears to be sticking with Jayen Fielding as its kicker.
He was brought out for a 56-yard attempt as the first half expired at Ohio Stadium in the Buckeyes' first-round playoff game against Tennessee.
The kick was off the mark, but OSU still led at the break 21-10.
Having Fielding take the kick marked a noteworthy decision for the Buckeyes.
He entered Saturday's game 9 for 12 on field goal attempts with a long of 46 yards. While perfect on 54 extra points attempts, his miscues on field goals were consequential. His 42-yard miss against Nebraska helped make for a nail-biting 21-17 finish, and he was 2 for 3 against Michigan with misses of 38 and 34 yards in the 13-10 loss.
Austin Snyder came in the College Football Playoff 3 for 3 on extra point attempts.
Fielding won the starter's job last year as a sophomore, having joined the team in 2022 as a walk-on. Fielding was 16 of 20 on kicks in 2023. His long was 47 yards.
Snyder made 31 of 40 field goal attempts at Findlay before transferring to OSU for his senior year. His long was 51 yards. At Groveport Madison High School, he was coached by Rob Keys, Ohio State's special teams quality control coach.
