The 39-year-old legend reached that milestone in the 34th minute of Portugal's 2-1 victory over Croatia in their Nations League game.

He got on the end of a Nuno Mendes cross with a tap-in volley from close range.

Ronaldo's achievement further distances him at the top of the all-time scorers list from his long-standing rival, Argentina's Lionel Messi, who has 859 career goals.
