COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) - Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan has identified the woman who tragically died in a fire on Christmas.

Valerie Lindsey, 46, lost her life in the early morning hours of Wednesday, according to the coroner.

Firefighters responded to a call shortly after 5 a.m. at the Westover Glen apartment complex on Old Macon Road near Reese Road in Columbus.

Authorities from the Columbus Fire Department reported that the fire displaced a dozen people.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
