NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WFSB) - The owner of a smoke shop in New Haven has been arrested after a compliance check found pounds of illegal narcotics.
Yesterday, the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection was conducting a compliance check at the TH3 Factory on Whalley Avenue due to their expired e-cigarette licensing.
New Haven police say the smoke shop has also been the subject of numerous complaints regarding the unregulated sale of drugs and alcohol.
"When DCP agents arrived, they saw a large amount of marijuana in display cases and a menu located on the wall, written in chalk, with a list of "Specials" and the level of THC content," police said.
They also located two large vacuum-sealed plastic bags with what they suspected to be marijuana.
That is when DCP stopped their inspection and called the police.
A further search by police found over 18.5 pounds of pills in several bags that tested positive for a combination of MDMA and Fentanyl.
Police also seized around 35 pounds of marijuana and marijuana products the smoke shop was not licensed to sell.
The owner, 48-year-old Peter Bush, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession with intent to sell.
