Paramedics and police officers at 8 a.m. on Aug. 29 responded to a car crash on Center Ridge Road at Westlake Rec Center Drive.
One of the vehicles ended up on its side with the occupants trapped inside. Only minor injuries were reported.
The vehicle that ended up on its side turned left in front of traffic on Center Ridge Road, according to the police department. The road was closed briefly while officers investigated, and crews removed the damaged vehicles.
Menacing: Detroit Road
A man angered after he said he received the wrong order from a Westlake McDonald's restaurant was charged with menacing.
Officers at 11 p.m. Aug. 28 responded to the McDonald's on Detroit Road west of Crocker Road after receiving calls about a disorderly man at the drive-thru window. Employees said the man was yelling, banging on the window, spitting on employees, and throwing drinks at the window. The customer drove off before the officers arrived, but he was stopped nearby. At first, he denied being at the restaurant but soon said that he had received the wrong order of food and became upset.
Employees said the suspect threatened workers and threw garbage out of the car in the parking lot.
Drugs: I-90
An officer at 10:45 p.m. on Aug. 26 stopped a car on I-90 near Crocker Road after noticing it didn't have a visible license plate.
The 40-year-old female driver from Cleveland had a suspended license and was wanted on warrants from North Olmsted, Strongsville, Berea, Seven Hills, and Parma, according to a police department statement. Westlake cited her for driving under suspension and turned her over to the Seven Hills Police Department on their warrant.
A 49-year-old Cleveland male passenger was found in possession of suspected heroin and methamphetamine. He was arrested and brought to the Westlake jail on a felony drug possession charge.
OVI, child endangering: I-90
Officers who stopped a Ford Fusion at 9 p.m. on Aug. 27 on I-90 for traffic violations discovered the 27-year-old male driver from Euclid appeared intoxicated.
An adult female was in the front passenger seat, and a young child was in the back seat. The woman told the officers that she had a loaded firearm in her purse. Officers determined she was allowed to possess the handgun.
However, a second loaded firearm under the passenger seat belonged to the intoxicated driver, who had prior felony convictions that barred him from possessing a firearm, according to the police. Officers also found suspected marijuana and a scale.
The child's car seat was not buckled into the car.
An officer charged the driver with operating a vehicle while intoxicated, felony possession of a weapon while under a disability, and child endangering.
The woman and child were allowed to drive from the scene after the baby seat was properly fastened.
