The popular, destination, tour train known as the Arctic Circle Express derailed along Norway's coast yesterday, on what is known as the Nordland Railway: an epic train journey crossing the Arctic Circle into Bodø.

Police reports indicate that there were a total of 55 passengers on the train when a rock slide occurred down the mountainside at Finneidfjord in Nordland, Norway around noon on Thursday, October 24th.
At least one person was killed due to the derailment and several injuries were sustained, mostly due to the train braking to avoid the falling boulders and going over the mountainside.

Norwegian News, NRK reporters were on the scene at the derailment interviewing passengers who survived the accident but remained quite shaken by the incident. Video footage shows the locomotive portion of the train slid down the embankment colliding with the road below, with both passenger carriages completely off the tracks and teetering precariously along the mountainside. To the side of the second carriage, a large boulder could be seen sitting on the tracks with additional boulders and rocks behind it.
Passengers reported that the braking was "dramatic and sudden," causing them to go airborne into windows and tables. Most of the passengers remained unscathed from the derailment.
Investigations are ongoing by authorities. Further information will be provided once the report is complete.
