Nic Nemeth Defends Hangman Page vs. Swerve Strickland, Mark Henry On Wrestler's Court

Thunder Rosa Reacts To Mercedes Mone's 'Mixed Emotions' Over AEW All Out 2024 Violence

In the past, WWE wrestlers had to deal with the infamous "Wrestler's Court" backstage. If a wrestler offended someone else on the roster for any reason, they would be "tried" and punished.

While some have criticized it in the past (most notably CM Punk), others like Booker T have stated that it serves a purpose in regulating the locker room.

On a recent edition of the "Huge Pop" podcast, WWE Hall of Famer Mark Henry defended the "Wrestler's Court."

He said, "It's not bullying, it's meant to entertain. I think the people that were in wrestler's court that took it so seriously that they felt bullied, all they had to do was go and buy a bottle of Jack Daniels, because the number one rule was that the rule -- the judge could always be bought. All you had to do was drop about 23 bucks, 25 bucks, go and buy a bottle of Jack Daniels, and then all you've got to do is sit in on the counter."

On a recent edition of the "Busted Open Radio" podcast, Nic Nemeth justified the level of violence in the Hangman Page vs. Nic Nemeth Unsanctioned Lights Out Match at AEW All Out 2024, noting it was necessary for that kind of feud.

Nemeth said, "I feel like some of these kind of shows, show you that there is a televised, worldwide alternative to WWE, and this is great. This is not a normal pay-per-view, this is not a normal 'Dynamite.' This is a 'I burned your house down, I drank your blood, I stapled your face together.' If you're not expecting something to go above and beyond, extra gross, and terrifier, they're not delivering on a pay-per-view that I have to pay extra to go see. In this case -- not every week, not every month -- in this scenario, there were a couple of things that were going to go down crazy and wild and gross, and they did. But, of course, this next Wednesday, you keep them apart and you don't just go back and keep overdoing it. Now you go back to the storytelling aspect of everybody else's lives."

During the match, Strickland and Page took multiple bumps on a cinderblock. Swerve delivered a foot stomp through a table and also used a charred piece of wood to stab Page in the head.

The finish saw Page use a needle to stab Strickland in the mouth and knock him out with a chair shot to the head to secure the victory. The medical team checked on Strickland after the match.
