DUNCAN, Okla. (KSWO) - The City of Duncan put out a statement on Feb. 20 to help inform residents about the installation of new water meters.
These statements came in response to rumors that the City of Duncan would be turning off water service if residents were to leave their faucets dripping to protect their pipes from the arctic blast.
Since the installation of the meters, Duncan's utility customer service team has received alerts for potential water leaks.
Whenever a leak is detected, Duncan officials will be dispatched to the location to verify if there is a leak or not, and if there is a potential leak, a notification will be placed on the front door to inform the resident or owner.
Officials will only turn off water if they discover a significant leak, which they noted is a rare occurrence.
With these new installations, Duncan residents can also monitor their water usage through the Get My Meter Portal.
