WEST COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - Maurice's Piggie Park BBQ's restaurant chain is opening up three of its locations Saturday with a limited menu.
According to a social media post from the BBQ chain, their main location on Charleston Highway, their location in Irmo and on Devine Street are open on Saturday.
Maurice's BBQ pits, food preparation and processing plant facilities, and their offices were "completely" destroyed in a fire that took place last weekend.
The cause of that fire is still under investigation by state and federal authorities.
"Each day we are doing what we can and are one step closer to being back, stronger than ever," a social media post from Maurice's said.
West Columbia Fire Chief Marquis Solomon said it took nearly four hours to get the fire under control. At one point during the fire, 60 firefighters were responding.
"It is heartbreaking to see these 69 years of hard work and generations of memories at this location burned to the ground," a statement from Maurice's Piggie Park said. "The pits have been burning here since 1992, and it breaks the heart of our family and loyal staff to see this tragedy hit us."
Solomon said at the time of the fire, there were no reports that anyone was in the building.
"Our BBQ Pits here are where all our meats and sides are prepared, and we have an unbelievable mountain to climb ahead of us," the post said.
The owners of Maurice's Piggie Park said the restaurant across the street from the distribution center was untouched by the fire.
The State Law Enforcement Division, the State Fire Marshals Office and the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) are investigating the fire.
