The Baltimore Animal Rescue and Care Shelter is warning people with missing pets about scammers who are pretending to be BARCS employees.

The scammers are using the BARCS phone number to call people who posted lost pet information.

The scammers then claim that the animal is in critical condition and they need immediate payments to treat them.

BARCS says it never requests payments over the phone and anyone who receives a call should not send money and report the incident.
