Good afternoon and Merry Christmas, everyone. A few showers continue to roll across parts of Kentucky on this big day and we have a lot more rain to go. Once we get through the wet weather portion of the forecast, winter weather fans can rejoice.

Showers today have been much more prominent in the west with just scattered stuff farther east. Here are your Christmas evening radars to follow the drops...

A stray shower or two will be around on Thursday as the mild temps continue. This will be followed by two storm systems for the weekend with the first arriving with showers and storms Friday and Friday night. The second one then rolls in later Saturday into Sunday.

The track on this second system is up for debate as the EURO has trended a little colder and farther east with it. Here's the EURO with both weekend systems...

Regardless, the potential is there for a general 1''-3'' of rain Friday through Sunday with amounts of 4'' or more possible. This would be enough to cause local high water concerns, at least. Here's the area I'm outlining right out of the gate...

The system for New Year's Eve will bring another round of rain and gusty winds with it, but the temps come way down behind this for New Year's Day. Some flurries and snow showers may follow this system to start 2025...

From there, the pattern transitions toward a very cold one during the first week of January with winter weather threats increasing during this time. How those winter weather threats show up cannot be determined from this far out and every model will show something different from one run to the next.

Still, we like to look at them to determine trends. The latest EURO has several systems of interest...
