AMD Ends Support For 1st & 2nd Gen Ryzen & Threadripper CPUs In Ryzen Master

AMD Ryzen Master 2.14.0.3205 will no longer support the first & second generation of Ryzen and Threadripper CPUs.

It has been almost 7 years since AMD debuted its Ryzen series for desktops and laptops. The same year, AMD also introduced the first generation of the Ryzen Threadripper series. The AM4 and TR4 sockets enjoyed quite a long time but it seems that users with these processors will be limited since AMD has ended the support in the latest Ryzen Master version.

As per the release notes, the Ryzen Master 2.14.0.3205 has now discontinued the support for the 1st and 2nd gen Ryzen processors, namely AMD Ryzen and Ryzen Threadripper 1000 and 2000 series. This means users with these processors won't be able to overclock their CPUs from Ryzen Master 2.14.0.3205 and will have to rely on the previous versions or BIOS.

AMD Ryzen Master is a good alternative to BIOS where users can tweak CPU parameters such as clock speeds and voltage. The program also allows overclocking RAM and is one of the quickest ways to enhance the system's performance. There are probably millions of users who might be running the Ryzen 1000 and 2000 generation processors and with the ending of support, they will miss out on some of the newest upgrades.

The release notes highlight that apart from offering support for the Ryzen 9000 series processors, there are new features introduced, that are applicable to select CPUs. But the best part is the new memory overclock feature that lets you apply the EXPO profile without having to restart the system. Furthermore, the Manual control mode will now allow CPU frequency adjustment in steps of 5MHz.

AMD Ryzen Master has been a convenient piece of software and is still a handy tool for Ryzen processors. Unfortunately, with time, the hardware support is usually ended and this will repeat when we move forward to the launch of newer AM5 processors.
