Baton Rouge Gallery's 'Surreal Salon 17,' its annual internationally juried exhibit of surreal and "lowbrow' art, is showing through Jan. 29 at the gallery, 1515 Dalrymple Drive.
Coinciding with the show is a lecture by special guest juror Evan Pricco, editor-in-chief of Juxtapoz magazine, on Jan. 27, and Surreal Salon Soiree, the big party celebrating the exhibition. The soiree is set for 7-11 p.m. Jan. 25, featuring entertainment by Bella's Bartok and DJ Otto. Partygoers usually wear costumes that meld with the artwork, creating a live art installation.
Admission to the exhibit and lecture is free. Soiree tickets are $50 in advance and $60 at the door. Call (225) 383-1470 or visit batonrougegallery.org.
