A 16-year-old boy who was injured in a Hyde Park house fire last week has died, officials said.
Mario Evans died Monday evening, according to the Suffolk County District Attorney's office.
Evans was rushed to a local hospital last Tuesday morning after he was pulled from the home at 1049 Hyde Park Avenue. The Boston Fire Department responded around 4:10 a.m. on Oct. 29 to the fire, which displaced five adults and three children. Smoke was showing from the second floor when firefighters arrived, according to the department.
The family described Evans on a GoFundMe page as "a very bubbly, smart, autistic young man, [who] was taken from us way too young."
"He was always so helpful and yearned to learn as much as he could," the family wrote. "He touched the lives of so many who got the chance to know him. His favorite holiday was Halloween, and he planned on being Super Mario this year."
