Yankees-Dodgers World Series tickets nearing record highs

Yankees-Dodgers World Series tickets nearing record highs

Combine the two biggest markets in the United States, two of the biggest brands in sports and the two biggest stars in baseball, and the result is predictable: a very expensive World Series.

Prices for the Yankees-Dodgers World Series that begins Friday in Los Angeles are the second costliest on record, according to data from the resale site TickPick.

As of midday Monday, the overall average purchase price for the series was $1,515, nearly double that for last year's World Series between the Rangers and Diamondbacks, a decidedly less sexy matchup that averaged $769.

The most expensive World Series to date remains the 2016 Fall Classic between the Cubs and Cleveland, at $1,617, not far ahead of the 2024 prices.

Thinking of visiting Los Angeles for Game 1? As of Monday, the "get-in" price, meaning the lowest available for purchase, was $951.

That is a lot, but it is a lot less than the $1,329 asking price for standing room only at Yankee Stadium for Game 3 -- and $1,399 for a ticket that actually comes with a seat.

The average purchase price for Game 3 in the Bronx on Monday? A cool $1,601.

Care to get some TV time by sitting in Section 20, Row 2, directly behind home plate, which comes with unlimited food in the Legends Suite?

As of Monday afternoon, two of those together could be had for Game 3 for $38,880 ($19,440 each).
