Thanks to the support of an anonymous donor, Valley Health System dedicated the Audrey Meyers Family Care Pavilion in honor of CEO Emeritus Audrey Meyers.
The health system announced the dedication Dec. 23. The gift came in support of The Valley Hospital Foundation's $125 million Serve. Care. Transform. campaign to support construction of The Valley Hospital in Paramus.
Meyers also announced during a Dec. 18 pavilion dedication ceremony event that she will retire at the end of January 2025, capping a 45-year career with Valley.
The Family Care Pavilion is home to the labor and delivery, neonatal intensive care (NICU), postpartum and pediatric units at The Valley Hospital. In addition to this broad spectrum of care for families, the pavilion's staff is on track to deliver almost 4,000 babies this year.
Additionally, Valley Health's board of trustees gifted a portrait of Meyers, which was unveiled at the dedication ceremony. The artwork hangs in the first-floor lobby of the Paramus hospital.
"I am so thankful for this amazing honor," Meyers said in a statement. "To know that my name will be on the building where so many families in our community will receive care, is a lasting tribute for which I am profoundly grateful. I thank Valley's anonymous donor for making this possible and want all to know that I am humbled by this incredible gesture."
In July, Valley announced Dr. Robert Brenner would take on the role of CEO in addition to his appointment as president. Meanwhile, Meyers would assume the CEO emeritus role. She previously led the health system as president and CEO since 1999.
"Audrey's extraordinary contributions to Valley are well known, but what truly defines her legacy is her unwavering commitment to the community and, especially, to families," Brenner said at the dedication ceremony. "Having had the privilege of working closely with Audrey for many years, I can say without hesitation that no one is more deserving of this recognition."
A mainstay on NJBIZ Power Lists, Meyers earned praise from the health system, which attributed numerous successes to her leadership, including:
"As President and CEO of Valley Health System, Audrey led the organization to this pivotal milestone, opening the doors of The Valley Hospital located in Paramus earlier this year," said Kevin Lobo, chair of Valley Health's board of trustees. "Since becoming CEO Emeritus, she has dedicated her talents to revitalizing Valley Health System - Ridgewood Campus into a healthcare destination that will meet our community's outpatient needs long into the future."
