Tony Romo is set to be on the call of a Dallas Cowboys game on Sunday. The Cowboys are hosting the Eagles at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. Romo will be on the call of the game, along with Jim Nantz and Tracy Wolfson.
The former Dallas Cowboys quarterback turned broadcaster doesn't get to call games featuring his old team that often, considering CBS is a mostly AFC network, while the Dallas Cowboys are in the NFC. Still, every now and then, Romo and Natz get the opportunity to do a game in Dallas. Romo still lives in the Dallas area, with his wife and children, so it's an easy week for the four-time Pro Bowl quarterback when that happens.
Romo, one of the best minds in football, typically sticks to sports (and maybe some pop culture references). However, over the years, Romo has made it pretty clear where he stands politically, too.
Romo, who played collegiately at Eastern Illinois, going undrafted coming out of school before catching the eye of Bill Parcells and the Dallas Cowboys franchise, seems to lean to the right.
The former Dallas Cowboys quarterback, who played in the league from 2004-16, has supported Republican politicians over the years. He's also attended events sponsored by Fox News and the GOP. Romo has played golf with Donald Trump, too.
"I played golf today with a really good golfer: Tony Romo. Do you know Tony Romo?" Trump said. "He may be a better golfer than a football player. I don't know."
Trump has shown support for Romo, as well, following his injury in 2015.
"The fact that Tony Romo got hurt is a terrible thing for the Dallas Cowboys," Trump said in 2015. "I think Tony's a great guy, I know him and he's also a great football player and it certainly will hurt Dallas."
Romo is probably closer to the middle than he is far right, but living in Texas, having played for the Cowboys, it shouldn't come as much of a surprise to anyone that the former quarterback leans a certain way, right?
Kickoff between the Cowboys and the Eagles is set for 4:25 p.m. E.T. on Sunday.
The Week 10 NFL game will air on CBS.
