Fox 29's meteorologist Sue Serio will return to her job as weather anchor for "Good Day Philadelphia" on Monday, Nov 4, after being on medical leave since the end of August.
Serio opened up on "Good Day Philadelphia" about her breast cancer diagnosis before leaving her job for surgery at the end of August.
On Aug. 30 on Fox 29's "Good Day Philadelphia" " meteorologist Sue Serio publicly acknowledged her breast cancer diagnosis, even bringing her surgeon, Dr. Julia Tchou, the Director of Breast Cancer Research for Penn Medicine, on to talk about the upcoming lumpectomy procedure.
Serio told the story of finding out she had cancer during the segment.
"I had my annual mammogram not too long ago and it showed a little spot. After the biopsy, that spot was found to be malignant.
So, what do you do when that happens during your annual mammogram? Well, you get the best surgeon you can to come in and get it out of there."
On Facebook on Sept 3, Serio posted that her scheduled surgery was being pushed back after she contracted Covid-19.
"Thanks for all the good wishes for my surgery. Could you please re-send in about a week????
Serio had planned on missing only about a month with her breast cancer surgery, but the Covid diagnosis bumped that timetable back by a few weeks.
Serio, who has been on Fox 29's "Good Day Philadelphia" since 1997, will return this week.
Serio confirmed her return on Sunday with a Facebook post thanking her daughter Nia and her son-in-law Billy for their help during her recovery from surgery.
